Important information about the H1N1 virus (swine flu)

Dear Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff:

The swine influenza A/H1N1 virus (swine flu) has now been linked to several cases in the United States. Missouri S&T’s Student Health Services staff have been monitoring information about the reported cases and are in contact with the Missouri State Health Department and following the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control. 

As with other respiratory viruses, prevention efforts include frequent handwashing or use of alcohol-based hand cleaners and covering nose and mouth with tissue or sleeve when coughing. Persons with possible exposure who develop fever, body aches, cough, and sore throat should stay home from work or school and contact their health care provider for treatment recommendations and testing.
